The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate homicides that happened in Harvey over the past two days.

Sheriff Joe Lopinto says detectives are working on a homicide in Harvey that happened at around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Lopinto says deputies were dispatched to report a man in need of medical attention near the intersection of Peters Road and Norman Street. When they arrived they found an unresponsive man on the side of the road. EMS pronounced the man dead on the scene. An autopsy revealed the man died from a gunshot wound and the incident was classified as a homicide.

This is the second homicide in Harvey in 48 hours. JPSO detectives are also working on a prior homicide that happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of Pailet Avenue.

"Upon their arrival, they located an adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds outside of a residence," said Capt. Jason Rivarde, spokesman for the JPSO. "The victim was pronounced dead on the scene."

Anyone with information on these homicides is asked to call JPSO Homicide Section at 504-364-5300.
