Detillier: O-line play, Rattler exploiting Cards corners could lead Saints to victory

The New Orleans Saints are less than 48 hours away from kicking off their regular season, hosting the Arizona Cardinals in the Superdome on Sunday. The Saints are a six-and-a-half point underdogs entering the game, but one analyst says the Saints could exploit some of Arizona's defensive weaknesses to pick up a win.

Mike Detillier says the Arizona Cardinals have a ton of youth in their secondary, and if the Saints offensive line can buy Rattler some time, he could earn his first career win.

"Can the Saints offensive line protect Spencer Rattler long enough?" Detillier asked WWL's Tommy Tucker. "That's the weak spot for them. Those (cornerbacks), I would try to hit that because that's the one area on question here on defense.

"Let's pass protect well, give Spencer some time to throw the football, and I'm going after those young (cornerbacks) the Cardinals have."

Detillier noted that the Arizona defense will have one mission.

"For this game, the Cardinals' deal is we're not going to let Alvin Kamara run the ball. We're going to shut that down," Detillier said.

Still, Detillier believes the Saints can work Kamara into the offense on a regular basis.

"Get him in space (and) let him use his speed out in the open field," Detillier said. "I would use Alvin a lot, too, coming out of the backfield (and see) how well will they match up with him coming out of the backfield as a receiver."

Kickoff between the Saints and the Cardinals is set for noon on Sunday with the pregame show starting at 8 a.m. on WWL.
