Nearly one-third of the nation is packing up and getting out of town for the Christmas Holiday.
The Triple-A’s Don Redman says “Slightly less than 113-million people travelling between Christmas and the New Year. It’s just a very good year and a sign that we’ve gotten beyond the COVID years. And getting back on track before where we were before the pandemic.”
And the good news about travel just keeps on coming. Redman enthusiastically says 2022 is going to be one of the most travelled years in recent history.
“It’s really been a good travel season all year long,” Redman explains. “In fact, 2022 will probably be the third busiest travel holiday, period. From New Year’s all the way to Christmas and all the holidays in between!”
Something is fueling robust travel this holiday season. According to Redman the reason is what goes in the tank: “We’re currently at a point now that the price of gasoline is cheaper today than it was at this time a year ago. There’s no doubt that it’s certainly helping the family budget and helping people make their plans for travelling for the Christmas holidays.”
And this year in particular, Redman says more than ever are flying: “It usually depends on what your pocket book but yes certainly people are anxious to get back in the air, even though airfare is higher, they’re weighing the option. They don’t want to spend more time on the road to get to their destination, they want to get to their destination and spend more time with their family.”
Redman again reminds drivers to take extra precautions and expect heavy weather during their Christmas time travelling.
