Human remains found Wednesday afternoon in the woods near Slidell are those of a missing woman.
According to St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Suzanne Carboni, the coroner’s office identified the deceased as Billie Ann Blakey. Blakey was reported missing to the sheriff’s office on Monday, June 26.
Sgt. Carboni says detectives found Blakey’s remains on Wednesday in a wooded area near the intersection of Tyler Drive and Kisatchie Drive. Authorities began searching that area after they received information that Blakey was last seen there.
Investigators have not ruled out foul play as a cause of death. Sgt. Carboni says investigators are speaking with Blakey’s relatives and acquaintances as part of their inquest.
