Christian Tullis’ life was taken tragically in a car accident Friday night.

His parents are now clinging to their faith as they deal with insurmountable grief.

They called Christian a funny, joyous son.

"He's Christ-like, childlike, and playful, he made everyone laugh. He was athletic, good looking, smart, full package," Tullis' mother, Diana Tullis told WWL-TV.

"He was an incredible athlete, and he was quite possibly the funniest person we've ever been around," his father, Danny Tullis, told the broadcaster.

Tullis, a junior at Pope John Paul II High School in Slidell, played football, basketball and volleyball.  His goat was going to Penn State.

"I'm very certain he was going to get some kind of offer this weekend because they were going to watch him play in Chicago," Danny Tullis said.

Christian had watched his father coach and his sister play a winning volleyball game in Lafayette Friday night.  On his way home, driving near Lacombe, his car ran into the back of an 18-wheeler.

Christian died at the scene.

"I feel like he wants me to pass this on. When you get in the car, think about your family before you do something silly. There is no problem with getting somewhere five minutes later," Danny Tullis said.
"Just really, really understand. The more careful you are, the more chance you have to finish your trip."

"As a mother, we expect to have our children live years and years past us, but we, as husband and wife, we want the ultimate goal for our children, which is to get to Heaven, and I truly believe that night my son met Jesus. He's in Heaven and knows everything we have questions about," Diana Tullis said.

In death, as in life, Christian’s highly religious spirit of doing right continues to show.  He donated seven organs to save others.

Christian’s high school held two prayer services for him after the accident.
