Report: Fingerprint helps NOPD catch accused murderer

NOPD
New Orleans Police Department

A suspect in a New Orleans East armed robbery and homicide is in the Orleans Parish Prison after police arrested him on Saturday.

Our partners at NOLA.com report that Reginald Favaroth was booked into jail on a second-degree murder charge. His bond is set at $1 million.

Police accuse Favaroth of shooting and killing Warren Richard inside a home on Kinneil Road on June 12. According to an arrest affidavit obtained by NOLA.com, Favaroth and another man dressed as construction workers and went to Richard’s home. Investigators say Favaroth and the other man forced one person inside the house at gunpoint, shot Richard, and demanded money from other people at the house.

Investigators say they matched a fingerprint left at the scene to a fingerprint of Favaroth that was stored in the NOPD’s database.
Police also say they found surveillance video showing Favaroth at or near the scene.

The second suspect in the case remains at large. Police have not identified that person.
