Krewe du Vieux, the dirty joke-heavy satirical procession that takes place in the Marigny and Bywater a few weeks before Mardi Gras, has called off its 2021 procession, The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate reports.

Instead of parading on January 30, the organization's sub-krewes will create satirical static art installations that will be placed on private property.

More traditional Mardi Gras krewes are working on ways to safely hold parades during a pandemic. New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell has given them 30 days to report back to the Mayor's Mardi Gras Advisory Council.
