A 91-year-old retired Roman Catholic priest turned himself in to New Orleans police Friday to answer to charges of rape and kidnapping.
An Orleans Parish grand jury indicted Lawrence Hecker on Thursday.
The charges against Lawrence Hecker date back to the 1970s, according to WWL-TV.
"This man should have been prosecuted a long time ago and he should be well into his sentence for these crimes," said New Orleans District Attorney Jason Williams.
Hecker admitted on camera to WWL-TV that he committed "overtly sexual acts" with underage boys in the 1960s and 1970s.
In addition to the aggravated rape and kidnapping charges, the grand jury also brought charges of aggravated crime against nature and theft.
