The New Orleans Police & Justice Foundation says, "No officer deserves to be assaulted while performing their duty."
It comes after NOPD pulled all of the riders on one float out of the Krewe of Carrollton Parade Sunday.
"It was deemed beads were intentionally thrown from the float in an aggressive manner toward officers along the parade route," Senior NOPD Public Information Officer Jonathan Morris said.
The Police & Justice Foundation posted that battery with injury on a police officer is a felony offense.
"Guess they can add bail money to the rider fees."
The organization urged people to thank an officer along the route for their long hours and hard work during the Mardi Gras season.
WWL TV posted that all of the riders on float 10 "Carrollton Boots" were removed from the parade just after 4:00pm.
The empty float continued to roll.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill posted:
"Absolutely appalling. They should be held accountable. A quick way to ruin Mardi Gras and make it more dangerous for everyone. The NOPD, Troop Nola, and their partners work countless hours during the Mardi Gras season to keep it safe for everyone who lives and visits. This conduct was contemptible."
