The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s office reveals new details about an October 15th double homicide at a River Ridge apartment complex. Jefferson parish investigators revealed new details about the double homicide during a probable cause hearing for the three suspects arrested.
The shooting happened October 15 about 10:30 p.m. in the 11100 block of Newton Street.
Investigators say on October 15, 39-year-old Jerome Lee opened fire on two people sitting on top his vehicle whom he had argued with earlier.
One of the men, 22-year-old Tyreek Johnson, was shot in the back as he and Dejone Paul, 22 ran away from the gunfire. A few minutes after Lee allegedly opened fire; a wounded Johnson returned with an AR-15 rifle and returned fire.
A bystander, 57-year-old Peter McGruber, was fatally shot in the head during the shootout. Investigators say a surveillance camera at Jesse Owens Playground across the street caught the shoot out on video.
Deputies arrested Lee on October 22 and booked him with one count of second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.
Darlene Taylor, 60, was also arrested in connection with the shooting. She was booked with second-degree murder, obstruction of justice and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Dejone Paul, 22, was the other man allegedly sitting on Lee’s vehicle with the dead gunman. He was booked with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and obstruction of justice.
