The New Orleans Saints and the New Orleans Police Department are working on a security plan to deter would-be car burglars during Saints game days.
"The NFL does not have to tell us to make sure our fans are safe." said New Orleans Saints President Dennis Lauscha at a news conference Friday. "That’s our number one priority. What we ask for from the city is basically to have a sense of security or have security that’s out there in coordination with other police forces as you deem necessary to make sure our fans can be safe, and their property can be safe."
The Saints can only directly control security for parking areas on the Superdome's property. The team asked for help from the city for fans who park throughout downtown and the areas surrounding the Superdome.
The first home game of the preseason is this Sunday, August 13.
