Scoot: Do J6 criminals deserve a payout from the president?

ATTENTION: The U.S. government is paying criminals to commit crimes.

Let’s establish a basic premise: attacking police officers who are on duty protecting the Capitol and politicians on the Hill is a crime and so is physically destroying parts of the Capitol building and trespassing on the floor of Congress. The president is on the verge of receiving a $1.8 billion fund that he can use at his discretion and that includes the conventional wisdom that some of the money will be used to give a payout to the individuals he pardoned from their prison sentences resulting from crimes committed on January 6, 2021.

1,270 of the individuals who brutally attacked police officers, destroyed parts of the U.S. Capitol, or trespassed in the halls of Congress were guilty of committing crimes and went to prison. About 1,000 pleaded guilty and the rest were found guilty based on the evidence by a judge or a jury of their peers. These individuals were loyal and dedicated followers of President Trump, and they thought they were acting on his call for them to take over the Capitol and stop the Democratic process of certifying the 2020 Election results.

Loyal to anyone who supports him, President Trump pardoned all of the criminals. In addition, it now appears that those criminals will be further rewarded for their crimes by receiving cash from the government.

Brandon Fellows, who was one of the rioters who was convicted and sent to prison, says that he used ChatGPT and Grok to determine what amount of money he deserves and the amount is $30 million! Fellows believes he deserves the money, in part, because the government set up the riot and it was not his fault. This claim is outrageous and Brandon Fellows reminds us that the word “entitlement” does not only apply to some welfare recipients.

Let me point out that there were a lot of people in attendance at Trump’s speech in front of the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and they did not attack the Capitol or police officers. That showed that there was right and wrong and some people chose to do wrong.

There is a bold sense of protection that many Trump supporters seem to feel as a result of the president’s actions of pardoning people who support him. Can Trump supporters do no wrong?
