Banning CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House has been an abject failure for President Trump. This is what happens when you allow your hot-tempered ego to dictate your actions.
The banning of those three media outlets was so dramatically wrong that Trump’s bullhorn - Fox News - joined with ABC, CBS, and NBC to pull their cameras and microphones from the White House media pool. In 2009 - when President Obama tried to ban Fox News from an event for the same reason Trump banned the three media outlets - CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC all banned together and said if Fox News is not invited then we will not cover the White House event with Obama. It says a lot about how the media - even if differing opinions are expressed - will support each other over blatant violations of the 1st Amendment.
It is things like defying The Constitution that seems to be speeding up the process of long-time Trump supporters - politicians and American citizens - breaking with President Trump. The disenchantment is growing as the midterm elections approach.
Fox News host Laura Ingraham is now trying to say she has always been against the war with Iran - even though there are countless video moments of her expressing support for the war with Iran from day one.
The war with Iran was started by President Trump in February and Ingraham verbalized total support for the war by saying that any objections to the war do not hold up. By the Spring Ingraham was praising the progress and that President Trump was delivering a gift to future generations in the Middle East and in America.
Today - Ingraham is bragging about how she was against the war from day one. More die-hard Trump supporters are breaking with the president and one can only imagine how irate Trump must be and how long he will be able to keep his frustrations out of the public spotlight.
A Florida Republican has an ad out openly criticizing President Trump for his handling of ICE and his immigration policy and reminding the president that the Hispanics who helped put him in office in 2024 are feeling deceived and will not support Republicans in the midterm elections.
At an event Saturday evening at a country club in an upscale suburb of New Orleans - a listener of my show on WWL said he is a Republican - but he and a lot of his Republican friends are “done with Trump.” He confirmed what I often talk about - you can be a Republican and a conservative and NOT support Trump and what he says and does. And more Republicans are expressing their differences with Trump.
To further demonstrate that many Republicans are “done with Trump” - the Patriot State Freedom Fest featuring Kid Rock, “Dog, the Bounty Hunter,” and Fox News personality Joe Concha - was cancelled days before it was to take place in Kentucky because the event had sold only 6 VIP tickets! Only 6!
The organizer - Eric Deters - cancelled the event because they had only sold 6 VIP tickets at $1,000 each. Deters said that he was promised by the hundred people he interacts with regularly that they would buy the VIP tickets which would support the event. General admission was free and it was not revealed how many of those tickets were claimed. The VIP tickets were a way to finance the Patriot State Freedom Fest in Kentucky - but they sold only 6!
Yes, it’s a weak line-up and Kid Rock was only a speaker and not performing - but we have all been led to believe that MAGA events and events with the word “Patriot” attached to them would draw big crowds. And remember what a flop the big Fourth of July Freedom event in D.C. proved to be?
We are seeing the beginning of the end of the fantasy with President Trump and all the things he promised - but failed - to do as president. Americans are frustrated with the cost of gas, killer inflation, the on-going war with Iran, the lies and unethical moves of the president and people want back the America they knew before the “Make America Great Again” bullsh**. How about “Bring America Back Again?”
President Trump’s life blood was always power. He did not thrive on helping the American people. It has been about his absolute power. What happens to his power if the Republicans don’t win the midterm elections? What will it take for Trump - politically and personally - to save face in a bizarre world that was created by his own greedy drive for power and money over doing what was right for the American people.
