Scoot: Should you be worried about communism in America?

NYC Mayor Mamdani Holds News Conference On Municipal Grocery Store Announcement
NEW YORK, NEW YORK - JULY 27: New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani holds up bananas as he speaks at a food distribution center on July 27, 2026 in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. Mamdani announced that the five upcoming city-owned grocery stores will offer a 30 percent discount on produce, meat, bread, and milk when they begin to open next year. The discount on essential items will potentially save shoppers an estimated $90 a month, or roughly $1,000 a year, as prices for food and other items continue to rise throughout the country. The mayor has pledged one community grocery store for each borough.

The communist scare that President Trump is drumming up is not about any real fear that America will be taken over by commies - it is nothing more than a political strategy. And that should help you relax if your concern for the commies coming in is growing.

Back in the 1950s - it was called the “Red Scare” and what is happening today is close to the same thing. The difference in the 1950s was that the Cold War was peaking and there were Americans who were communist sympathizers working to introduce communism to America.

The current “Red Scare” is based on the recent election of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani - who ran on a Democratic Socialists of America ticket. Since his election - a few other Democratic Socialists have been elected to run in the mid-term election in November. They were elected to run - that doesn’t mean they will beat the Republican candidates.

Trump is currently trumpeting the warning that America is vulnerable to communism. Anti-communist sentiment is popular in America - especially with the Boomer Generation that grew up with the real scare that communism was spreading and America was the big target. Among Latin voters in America - especially those with connections to Cuba and Venezuela - where communism is reality.

With President Trump’s approval rating at a career low - with polls showing the Democrats have a real chance of gaining control in the midterm elections - Trump is desperate to create a positive narrative for him and the Republicans. Trump could also be very nervous about what could happen to him IF Democrats are in control of Congress. This is a critical time for the president.

While the current “Red Scare” is similar to the anti-communist rhetoric of the 50s - the current scare is solely a political strategy. The original commie scare of the 50s was political - but it was also happening during the Cold War when Americans had a real fear of communism spreading.

Today - the communist scare is political fear-mongering and based ONLY on a political strategy and not any reality that America will become a communist nation.

President Trump and other Republicans will try to make the fear of communism seeping into America seem very real - but it needs to be called out as bull***t.

So relax - no matter what you are led to believe - America is NOT on the verge of being directly influenced by pinko commies!
