With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, the Louisiana Family Forum is once again in search of the state’s longest married couple. LFF president Gene Mills says couples married 70 years or more are eligible for nomination.
“If you know of somebody in your family, or in your friendship circle, that have been married seven decades or more, you need to submit their names to the Louisiana Family Forum by February third so that we can give them honors and help tell their story across Louisiana,” Mills said.
Ira and Margery Milan of New Orleans were honored as Louisiana’s longest-married couple last year. They were inducted into the LFF’s marriage hall of fame along with other couples who rank in the top ten for longest living married couples. Mills says they are honored to share these examples of lasting love.
“We like to be able to unpack their story, tell it to the people of Louisiana and to echo that marriage can last a lifetime. And the stories they got to tell, you’re talking about history; History that needs to not be forgotten, but it needs to be told,” Mills said.
Entries must be received by the end of Today.

Mills says nominations can also be emailed to info@lafamilyforum.org.
“We need pictures, we need a contact person, and a few details about the couple, and whomever is serving as their caretaker so that we can communicate with them,” Mills explained.
