Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy says he will learn more about the Iran War this afternoon when Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio brief senators on the conflict. Sen. Cassidy says he and other senators are seeking clarity on what the Trump Administration's endgame in Iran is.

"The President has previously said he's not into regime changes," Sen. Cassidy told WWL's Newell Normand. "Now he's kind of saying he might be. We're getting a little bit of a mixed message from the President."

Cassidy said that even with those mixed messages, he thinks President Donald Trump may have a plan to get out of Iran sooner rather than later.

"So the President at one point said we could pull out and let them know that if they start rebuilding again, we'd be right back. That may a way to do it: make it short and contained," Sen. Cassidy said. "When the President said we pull out and, just to let you know, that we'll do it again if you start to rebuild (your capability to create a nuclear weapon), that could be a way to minimize harm and to achieve our objective."

Cassidy says regardless of the Trump Administration's rationale, the President and American armed forces deserve the public's support.

"We're in there, and we can debate whatever we want to debate for the moment, but I think we need to support our President and support our troops, pray for their success, their security, and (that they) come home soon," Sen. Cassidy said.
