Sheriff: Child amid dangerous drugs, 2 arrested
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office says a traffic stop led to a search warrant, which led to the discovery of a child in close proximity to fentanyl, meth, and other dangerous items.

Two adults, including the child's father, have been arrested.

"On March 14, Detectives with the Proactive Enforcement Unit attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling northbound on Lee Road after observing the vehicle cross the center line. The driver traveled for a mile and half before finally pulling over. At which time the driver, Michael Andriotto, was taken into custody," said Lt. Suzanne Carboni with the sheriff's office.

Deputies say they found Andriotto to be in possession of two grams of meth and five grams of fentanyl. The sheriff's office says there was also a handgun visible on Andriotto's passenger seat.

Detectives obtained a warrant and searched Andriotto's home in the 19000 block of North 12th St. in Covington.

"At the residence, detectives made contact with Andriotto's girlfriend, Audrey McKay; and Andriotto's 10-year-old child," said Carboni.

"They also located and seized approximately 14 grams of suspected marijuana; 2.5 grams of methamphetamine; a quarter ounce of fentanyl, numerous used and unused syringes; and other items of drug paraphernalia. Detectives located these items in close proximity to where the juvenile sleeps," Carboni said.

Both adults were booked on a variety of drug charges. Andriotto was also booked on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
