The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office did a sweep of its jail and discovered drugs, weapons, and various other types of contraband.
"Operation Shake it Up" found homemade knives, synthetic THC, suspected meth, prescription drugs, prison wine, cash and a cellular phone.
The sheriff's office says as each search was finished, new procedures were set up to stop more contraband from getting into the jail.
At least two inmates were booked on charges of introducing the prohibited items.
"I want to commend our team for their work to continue the turnaround of the parish jail’s security, safety and operations as well as thank our partners at the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office for their assistance and expertise through this process," said Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Gerald Sticker. "And to those involved with smuggling these items into the jail– both in the jail currently and outside of it– the game is over."
The sheriff's office said there will likely be more arrests as the investigation continues.
