Cops are looking for clues after gunfire along a busy street in the Central Business District this morning.
"The NOPD is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 300 block of Baronne Street," Officer Reese Harper notified the media just before 7:00am.
She says the gunfire rang out around 6:30am, and one victim was hit.
"Initial reports show that a man sustained a gunshot wound to his body. The victim was transported to a local hospital."
Harper did not release any information in the victim's condition, any suspects or a motive.
As of yesterday, the Metro Crime Commission said there had been 137 shooting incidents in New Orleans this year. That's 132% higher than three years ago and about the same as last year.
