New Orleans police say 911 calls came in at 7:58pm, both reporting shootings on Canal Street about a mile apart.
Cops arrived at Canal and Bourbon to find a wounded victim.
"The NOPD is investigating a shooting in the 800 block of Canal Street. Initial information shows a male gunshot wound victim who was transported via EMS to a local hospital," Senior Public Information Officer Aaron Looney released.
The victim later died at the hospital.
Officers dispatched to Canal and Galvez found a gunshot victim there. Another victim showed up at the hospital a short time later.
"The NOPD is investigating a shooting in the 2200 block of Canal Street. Initial information shows two gunshot wound victims, one transported to a local hospital via EMS and another who arrived via private conveyance to a local hospital."
One of the victim from the shooting near Galvez has since died.
