Slidell Police booked a man who was once one of their ranks, on charges of stealing prescription narcotics from the department's evidence room.
Todd Dillon faces 15 counts of theft, 18 counts of possession of narcotics, and one count of malfeasance in office.
Dillon, 48, had been with Slidell Police since January 2016. He resigned last month, after learning of the investigation.
"Mr. Dillon had the opportunity to seek help like any other citizen, however, he chose to break the law," said Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal. "He will be treated like any other criminal. I have zero tolerance for bad cops. Period."
