A Northshore man is dead and police say it appears he went on a rampage before taking his own life.
"Deputies responded to a call for service in the 200 block of W. Oakland Drive in St. Rose," St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Sgt. Jenni Barrette said in a news release. "The caller reported that her ex-boyfriend, 23-year-old Taegan Pourciau from Slidell, Louisiana, shot the glass door at the back of the residence."
It happened Tuesday night.
Barrette says Pourciau entered the home through the shattered door.
"After pleading with Pourciau, the woman managed to escape the residence unharmed. Another male who was present at the home climbed out of a window to safety."
Cops launched a manhunt.
"Deputies and detectives initiated a search for Pourciau that continued throughout the night."
Wednesday morning they found him.
"Around 11:00 a.m., the sheriff's office was notified by a railroad employee about a deceased individual found on the railroad tracks near Almedia Road in St. Rose. Detectives arrived at the scene, positively identified Pourciau, and located a firearm nearby. It appeared Pourciau suffered from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, but the incident remains under investigation."
