Entergy reports more than 2,000 customers in Orleans and Jefferson were without power Tuesday afternoon as high winds blew across the region.
More than a thousand were without power in Uptown New Orleans near Tchoupitoulas and Napoleon.
The power company reported another thousand customers out in Marrero, due to a downed line.
The outages come on a day when the National Weather Service issued a high wind warning that forced New Orleans' Fat Tuesday parades to move up their schedules, and led to the cancellation of parades in Jefferson Parish.
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport recorded sustained winds as high as 30 mph Tuesday and gusts as high as 53.
