A suspected drug dealer is in custody after St. Bernard Parish sheriff’s deputies say he was caught shoplifting spray paint from a store.

Kenneth Warden is facing charges of possession with intent to distribute heroin, fentanyl, meth, and anti-anxiety drug Clonazepam. He has also been booked on theft, criminal damage to property, and resisting and officer charges.

According to St. Bernard Parish Sheriff James Pohlmann, deputies were called to a business on Bayou Road on Thursday, July 20 after someone saw Pohlmann stealing cans of spray paint. Pohlmann says when deputies arrived on scene and tried to speak with Warden, he tried to run away. Deputies quickly caught Warden and took him into custody.

Pohlmann says during the chase, Warden threw away several baggies of drugs. According to Pohlmann, Warden had $1,200 worth of heroin, $300 worth of cocaine and fentanyl, about $100 worth of meth, and 14 Clonazepam pills.

Warden remains in the St. Bernard Parish Jail as of Thursday night.
