If you drove along Interstate 310 near St. Rose early Sunday, you may have noticed a large object in a tree. From a distance, you'd think a large bird had perched itself on a branch. Only, it wasn't.
The large object perched in the tree was a man fleeing police.
According to a post on the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office's Facebook page, someone called the sheriff's office Sunday morning to report seeing a man sitting in a tree trying to flag down drivers. The witness told a dispatcher that the man in the tree told him he was running from a police department.
Deputies later learned the the man in the tree had run away from a local police department in a car that was later found abandoned along the interstate.
Firefighters plucked the man from the tree. An EMS crew check the man for injuries before turning him over to deputies who then arrested him.
