St. Tammany coroner warns against vaccine misinformation on social media

St. Tammany Parish coroner Dr. Charles Preston urged people to listen to their doctors and not sources found on social media when it comes to the safety of the coronavirus vaccine.

Dr. Preston said he watched a few videos on Facebook and was disturbed by what he saw.

“I have to tell you they were very concerning because they are very well made videos with people who appear reputable that give a foundation of fact, and then quickly veer off into total fantasy,” said Dr. Preston at Wednesday’s news conference.

St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper did not announce new restrictions even though COVID cases are surging. He did say people need to get vaccinated and take other precautions to slow this fourth surge before it comes to that measure.
