While Omicron may not be as severe as Delta was for most patients, the sheer record number of cases is pushing area hospitals back into dangerous levels of saturation.
With hospitals quickly filling with COVID patients, three-quarters of them unvaccinated according to the State Department of Health, people are being urged not to show up unless needed. The St. Tammany Coroner in particular issued a plea to Northshore residents to stay away from emergency rooms unless necessary due to saturation.
