Eastern St. Tammany Parish appears to have taken the brunt of Tropical Storm Claudette in Louisiana.
Reports of Flooding in some Slidell neighborhoods have been coming in to WWL all morning.
St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper was out early surveying flooded streets and water inundated homes.
WWL caught up with just before noon.
“I’ve been assessing the high water levels. Some areas still have high water levels and water across the local roadways in residential neighborhoods. However, it’s receding. We’re checking out our utilities to make sure our utilities are up and running and serving our citizens," said Cooper.
There is no official count of how many homes or businesses may have been damaged by floodwaters.
“Emergency operations personnel and public works personnel are out and about. We’re still placing high water signs and barricades so that we prevent citizens from going through [flooded] neighborhoods and causing further damage.”
