Heavy rainstorms in Baton Rouge cause a part of I-10 to close in both directions because of standing water on the roadway.
Interstate 10 is closed between Highland Road and Siegen Lane where the water is impassable.
Authorities are diverting westbound traffic off I-10 at LA 73. Eastbound I-10 traffic is diverted at Picardy.

The flooding was so bad in Baton Rouge rescue crews had to conduct high water rescues overnight.
“Three hundred and thirteen calls for assistance throughout the Parish overnight, and 250 people had to be assisted to higher grounds with boats,” said Baton Rouge Mayor Sharon Weston Broome.
There is also widespread flooding in Lake Charles. Governor John Bel Edwards has issued a state of emergency declaration.
