Authorities are releasing few details after the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office shot and killed a person Monday.
"This afternoon, shortly before 5:00 p.m., the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) requested assistance from the Louisiana State Police – Bureau of Investigations to investigate a deputy-involved shooting that occurred on Madison Lane in Ponchatoula," Trooper William Huggins said in a news release.
There was a heavy police presence at the scene.
"Investigators are working to process the scene and gather further information."
Huggins did not identify the dead individual.
"One subject was shot and pronounced deceased on the scene. No deputies were harmed during the incident. This is an active investigation and further information will be released when it becomes available."
Investigators ask anyone with information and/or pictures and video to share that information with LSP Detectives.
