State troopers today released additional video in the case of LSU star football player Kyren Lacy.
"As part of our commitment to transparency, the Louisiana State Police has released the full crash report," LSP said in a news release.
Investigators also released multiple witness statements and additional "video evidence."
One witness on the scene tells the arriving trooper, "It was a green charger that caused all of this."
Lacy was driving a green Charger.
Other witnesses then tell the trooper the same thing, that it was all Lacy's fault.
They described how Lacy allegedly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed on Louisiana Highway 20 in a no passing zone. The video shows that series of events.
The witnesses say another driver, trying to avoid Lacy hitting her, swerved out of the way. A deadly crash followed.
"She had no choice," one of them says.
The woman who swerved into opposing traffic tells police, "I was trying to dodge hitting him."
The crash claimed the life of 78-year-old Herman Hall of Thibodaux.
This newly released information follows Lacy's attorney, Matt Ory, going in television and releasing video he says show Lacy was not at fault.
Ory says investigators previously stated that Lacy was actively passing when the crash occurred.
"We know now that is 100% false."
He also stressed that Lacy was more than 72 yards away from the crash when it occurred.
The new video from the LSP shows that Lacy did illegally pass four vehicles before suddenly slamming on the brakes and pulling back into his lane just before the crash occurred.
Lacy was booked for crimes including negligent homicide and felony hit-and-run. He took his own life while his case was pending before a grand jury.
