With Mother's Day in the rearview mirror, so is one of the biggest weekends for crawfish.
How much of the season is left, and how much time do you have with the tasty crustacean? Louisiana Ag Commissioner, Mike Strain, says there's plenty to go around, but don't wait.
"The end of June they will stop fishing the farms so don't hesitate to get your boils done," says Strain.
Strain says the tasty treats are plentiful and at great prices.
"It's been a good season, great weather and right now you can get live about $2.50-$3.00 a pound."
Some retailers have even dropped the price to as low as $0.99/pound.
There have been some rough years for the crawfish industry as of late, leading to skepticism about the amount of harvest.
Strain says the bounce back from drought and other issues is in full force and the future looks bright.
"We're seeding those beds now and we've had amazing weather so far, good rain, and next year should be great too."
