Storms move out, colder air moving in

The dangerous weather that moved through Louisiana Monday into Tuesday is now off to the east of the state.

"The severe storm threat has ended early Tuesday morning as a line of strong thunderstorms has passed east of our area,"  WWL TV Meteorologist Alexandra Cranford advised. "We will dry out."

She says the winds will stay gusty today.

"It will be a chilly and windy day. Winds will be blowing from the west up to 25 mph with some higher gusts. Skies will clear through the day."

Cranford says we drop to or near freezing away from the city by Wednesday morning.

"Tuesday night brings a cold setup with clear skies and less wind. Expect a light freeze or frost north of the lake on Wednesday morning. Wednesday will be cool and pleasant with highs in the 50s."

She expects we will warm into the 60s Thursday and 70s on Friday.

Rain returns Friday with scattered showers and thunderstorms ending before evening.

"Another cold front brings the chill back for the weekend."
