Two boaters who were stranded on a disabled vessel are safe after Coast Guard crews rescued them from a St. Bernard Parish waterway.

Coast Guard officials say New Orleans watchstanders received a call about the stranded boaters from St. Bernard Parish dispatchers around 10:30 p.m. Friday. That call described two overdue boaters who were last seen on a 23-foot recreational vessel near Hopedale.

A helicopter crew found the boaters and their craft early Saturday morning. The helicopter crew lifted the boaters onto their Jayhawk and flew them to Hopedale Marina.

At last report, the boaters' conditions were reportedly stable.
