After a string of big events, Superdome officials are getting ready for another one. WrestleMania 2026 will bring a Super Bowl sized crowd, but not quite the same atmosphere.
"It's a different event, and it's a diverse event," said Superdome General Manager Evan Holmes.
Holmes says the WWE has a big international following: and more than half the WrestleMania attendees are expected to be from other countries.
"This is like a pilgrimage of sorts where people will come in from the UK, they'll come from the Asia-Pacific area, they'll come from South America," he said.
The last time New Orleans hosted the WWE's championship event, in 2018, the economic impact was said to be $175 million dollars, and since then, WrestleMania has expanded from a single night to two-night event.
"We're really excited about it, because it really is a big event," said Holmes. "Whether you like wrestling or not, you can't deny the impacts that it brings."
Next month, officials with the Superdome will head to Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium for WrestleMania XLI, as they prepare to host WrestleMania XLII April 11 and 12 next year.
