The NFL schedule comes out tonight, and when the Saints take the field this fall, the ongoing Superdome renovations will finally be done.
The renovation of the Superdome has been done in stages, and started way back before the pandemic.
"A completed multi-phase renovation that started in January of 2020," says Superdome spokesman and Voice of the Saints Mike Hoss.
The first work began after the Saints 2019 season wrapped up -- that's before the NFL was playing a 17 game schedule, before Drew Brees retired and Sean Payton left, even before it was Caesars Superdome.
Hoss says fans have seen the work unfold as they have come back to the dome over the last four seasons.
"New, huge lobby atriums, escalators to take you to 200, and 200 to 500," he said. "I'd love to be able to put a number on the amount of HVACS, mechanical, sheetrock, things that have been wheeled out of this building over the last 4 or five years."
And the project is on schedule to be finished so the stadium can host Super Bowl LIX in February. And later in 2025, the Superdome will celebrate its 50 years since its opening.
