The man who eluded New Orleans authorities after he cut off his ankle monitor and threw it into a New Orleans East waterway is back in custody.
According to the Assured Supervision Accountability Program, authorities arrested Darwin Gonzales-Muñoz in Austin, Texas. Officials there say he will be transported to Houston before he returns to New Orleans to face charges here.
Gonzales-Muños was arrested in March on domestic violence charges. Authorities put the ankle monitor on him after he posted $78,000 bail in May. Authorities say Gonzales-Muñoz cut off the ankle monitor and threw it into Bayou Sauvage before running west to Texas.
ASAP officials say Gonzales-Muñoz's victim, Ximena Michelle Hernandez, is also is in custody and will be booked on a warrant in Houston.
