A LaPlace man is in custody, facing charges in a stabbing attack involving his brother and another person.
One of the victims is a corrections officer with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office.
"At 1:26 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, St. John Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to the 100 block of Devon Drive in reference to a stabbing," the sheriff's office said. "When they arrived on scene, several people were located outside the house; two of whom were bleeding from stab wounds."
The suspect, whom authorities identified as 31-year-old Anthony Manson, Jr., lived in the house with his brother, 21-year-old Aden Manson. Aden Manson is employed by the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office.
"Aden Manson and his girlfriend, age 20, reported they were asleep in bed when Manson kicked opened the bedroom door and attacked them with the knife; stabbing them repeatedly. They were able to escape and run outside the house," according to the sheriff's office.
"Deputies were informed that the suspect was inside the residence armed with a knife," said the sheriff's office. "Deputies observed Manson standing in a hallway with a kitchen knife in his hand. Manson complied with verbal commands to drop the knife and was arrested."
Deputies booked Manson on two counts of aggravated second degree battery. The victims were taken to University Medical Center in New Orleans and are expected to recover.
