New Orleans Police say they have apprehended a suspect after a manhunt shut down Canal Street in Mid-City this afternoon.
Multiple reports say the man is believed to be the suspect in the shooting of a deputy constable and a property manager this morning in New Orleans East.
Nearby Warren Easton High School and Morris Jeff Community School went into precautionary lockdown during the search, which included NOPD, state police, members of the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force, K-9 units, and a helicopter from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
