According to the The Superintendent’s Major Offense Log, "While investigating trespassing call for service, officer observed suspect lying on ground and refusing to leave. Suspect stood, produced a knife, lunged at officer and continued to move towards officer with knife. Officer fired one shot, striking the suspect in arm. Suspect transported to local hospital."
It happened outside the box office just after 7:00am.
The officer was placed on desk duty pending the outcome of the investigation into the shooting. That is standard procedure.
