Covington police have arrested a known drug dealer who was found hiding in a drainage ditch to evade being taken into custody.
Jovan Williams was found in possession of enough fentanyl to kill 80,000 people. The amount of fentanyl was worth $70,000.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is up to 50 times stronger than heroin and up to 100 times stronger than morphine.
Covington PD says their officers are frequently finding this drug on the streets of Covington and at the scenes of overdoses at an alarming rate.
Williams is raft of 12 charges both felonies and misdemeanors.

In a press release, Chief Michael Ferrell warned drug dealers working in the city of Covington to stop their activity and warned "Under Louisiana state law, if law enforcement can show a connection between a fatal overdose and the dealer who sold the drugs, that drug dealer will be arrested for Second Degree Murder."
No word was given whether Williams has had a bail hearing or when he will make an appearance before a judge on the charges.
