The New Orleans Police Department announced Thursday that they have arrested six people and are searching for another in the murder of 41-year-old Michael Garcia.
Detectives say Garcia had the misfortune of driving through the area of N. Claiborne Ave. and Desire St. around 5 p.m. on April 7 when multiple people began shooting at each other.
Garcia caught a bullet in the head.
Hours after the crime happened, police arrested 48-year-old Terrance Leavell, and through further investigation, learned that the shootout was between multiple people involving a drug dispute.
Three days later, authorities arrested 21-year-old Alshawn "Osama" Watts in Jefferson Parish, and developed leads leading to the arrests of:
- Joshua "Money" Emery, 39
- Caron "Rondo" Fortenberry, 25
- Bennalynn Ingram, 39
- Mi'janae "Gunna" Ingram, 20
Police are still looking for 23-year-old Byron "BB" Dubose (pictured).
