Nine people from Tangipahoa Parish are facing federal prison sentences after they pleaded guilty to drug and guns charges in connection to gang activity.
According to federal prosecutors, Michael Alexander, Sr., Michael Alexander, Jr., Atrell Anderson, Terrell Haynes, Brandon Baker, Louis Bells, Jr., Jerald Alexander, Star Robichaux, and Joshua Prine were all members of the Jungle Life Mafia street gang in Tangipahoa Parish. The nine defendants all admitted to possession of, distribution of, and/or conspiracy to distribute various drugs across the parish, including fentanyl, heroin, meth, and cannabis. Prosecutors say a nearly two-year investigation led to the arrests and the seizure of the drugs and guns involved in the case.
Prosecutors say DEA agents seized nearly $600,000 in cash and 10 guns during their raid.
Bells was sentenced to six years in prison last October.
Baker was sentenced to two years and three months in prison during a February hearing. The other defendants are scheduled to be sentenced in April and in June. They all face a minimum of five years in prison.
