A teen is dead and another child is in the hospital after a car hit them while they were riding their bikes in St. Bernard Parish.
It happened around 10:20 p.m. Friday on Bayou Road near LA 39.
State troopers say the juveniles were riding their bikes in the middle of the road when an SUV hit them. Investigators say Joshua Bordelon, 13 died at a hospital. The other minor remains in the hospital with moderate injuries. According to troopers, the bicyclists were wearing dark clothing while riding on a road with no lights. Their bikes, troopers say, also had no reflectors or lights on them.
The driver of the SUV was not injured.
The crash is still under investigation.
