The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 17-year-old that deputies say threatened students with a gun Monday at Chalmette High.
Sheriff James Pohlmann said it happened after school let out for the day.
"Deputies responded to a call in reference to an altercation in the Chalmette High School main campus parking lot at 1100 E. Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette," the sheriff said in a news release. "When deputies arrived on the scene they learned a male juvenile suspect became involved in an altercation with a group of CHS students following dismissal in the school parking lot and he brandished a weapon during the incident."
Investigators say that during the course of the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau were able to identify the male suspect as a 17-year-old former CHS student.
"The juvenile was later arrested by detectives and booked with juvenile in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm on school grounds."
The Sheriff said no one was injured.
