A Thibodaux man is jailed on accusations he abused his wheelchair-bound mother. Thibodaux police booked Joseph Elzy Jr. on a charge of felony cruelty to the informed.
"On Saturday, October 10, 2020, the Thibodaux Police Department began investigating allegations of an elderly handicapped woman being physically abused," Lt. Clint Dempster said "It was learned that the 60-year-old victim who is partially paralyzed and wheelchair bound had been mistreated and abused by her son for weeks. "
Police say Elzy verbally threatened his mother, violently shook her wheelchair when angry, and punched her.
Authorities say the victim disclosed the abusive actions to her part-time home health worker, who then called police.
