Over 20 cars parked in a film crew parking lot in the Lower Garden District were broken into by thieves overnight.
It happened as crews were filming the movie Renfield, starring Nicholas Cage.
“They have security guards on hand and apparently they didn’t see what happened and they were too late by the time they came out here,” WWLTV’s Candese Charles told WWL’s, Tommy Tucker. “Unfortunately, they just missed 25 cars getting broken into, which is quite shocking. I’m not sure how they could have missed that but they did and they will continue to do filming out here and looking out for their own cars on their own.”
The news station reports that the victims were told NOPD officers would not be responding to help because there are too many victims and that the department does not have enough officers to respond due to a staffing shortage.
