We have rounds of rain moving through today and tomorrow from the low pressure system in the Gulf, and it may be just a warm-up for what's to come.
"This system is mostly going to be a rain maker," but LSU Health Climatologist Barry Keim says it could make enough rain to cause isolate street flooding, and maybe some coastal flooding.
Meanwhile, the late-August to mid-September peak of hurricane season is weeks away.
"This is really early right now," Keim notes. "The real teeth of the season doesn't get here, I would argue, until about mid-August and goes until about the first week of October."
