Several homes suffered significant damage during a three-alarm fire near the Fairgrounds.
The first call of the fire came around 1:45 p.m. from O'Reilly Street near North Dupre Street.
According to New Orleans Fire Department officials, firefighters arrived to find a wood-framed duplex engulfed in flames. Those firefighters sounded the second alarm after discovering that the fire has spread to neighboring homes. The third alarm came because the firefighters who originally responded needed relief from the excruciating heat.
Firefighters finally brought the blaze under control after a little more than two hours of battling it. Nobody was injured.
The fire's cause remains under investigation.
