If you're waking up to snow, state officials say you should just stay home and enjoy it. Snowfall of four inches or more could come down in some areas.
"That really shuts down the state, at least for a day or two," said Louisiana Climatologist Jay Grymes.
Grymes says temperatures at or below freezing will essentially last the next couple of days, with only a brief period in the afternoon today and tomorrow -- not enough time to melt snow or ice off roads.
"So be prepared to stay at home. Don't get out," he cautioned. "Be ready to stay essentially house-bound, not just Tuesday but Wednesday and even into Thursday."
Out-of-the-way areas in particular could remain socked in, he said:
"Travel, especially in the back roads in some of the rural areas, certainly is going to be limited if not completely hampered through Thursday mid-day."
